Course Overview

Parallel architectures, OpenMP multi-threading, MPI cluster programming, CUDA GPU programming, and profiling. Curriculum Structure & Core Modules: • 1. Foundations of High-Performance Computing: Architectural Paradigms and Parallel Scaling Metrics • 2. Shared-Memory Parallel...

What You'll Learn

  • Analyze parallel scaling performance laws: Amdahl's Law, Gustafson's Law, and Karp-Flatt metrics.
  • Write high-throughput shared-memory parallel programs in C/C++ using OpenMP directives and pragmas.
  • Implement distributed-memory parallel computing algorithms across cluster nodes using MPI (Message Passing Interface).
  • Develop massive-throughput GPU acceleration kernels using NVIDIA CUDA (thread blocks, shared memory, warps).
  • Profile hardware performance bottlenecks, cache thrashing, and memory bandwidth using Linux perf and NVIDIA Nsight.

Requirements

  • Completion of CPE 401.
